PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M University women's bowling team will get the 2022-23 season underway in the three-day event, that will take place Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Colonial Lanes Classic. The annual event, hosted by Tulane will be played at Colonial Lanes in Harahan, La.
"I'm super excited going into this season," said Head PVAMU Bowling Coach
Glenn White. "I am excited to see how this team grows and comes together. We have a fairly young and inexperienced team with only three starters returning. There are two other returnees that I'm expecting to step up and play well along with two freshmen that we will count on heavily. The ladies have worked hard over the past few weeks in our "Boot Camp " practices and I'm eager to see how they will perform in our first competition this weekend. "
Prairie View A&M returns five players from last season's team to include sophomore

Stephanie Vasquez. Freshmen
Miranda Fuentes and
Jayda Gordon will have their debut as Lady Panthers bowlers.
The event will begin on Friday with the matches consisting of five baker matches, while Saturday will be five traditional matches. Sunday will feature three best of four out of baker matches, with the awards ceremony following after the completion of the competition.
The field, consisting of 15 teams, has multiple teams ranked in the national polls, including No. 24 Lincoln Memorial, No. 17 host team Tulane, No. 14 University of Maryland Eastern Shore will all be competing. The classic will also feature four teams ranked in the top 10: No. 8 Louisiana Tech, No. 7 North Carolina A&T, No. 5 Sam Houston State and No. 4 Stephen F. Austin. Other teams taking part in this weekend's competition are Southwestern Athletic Conference teams Alabama A&M, Texas Southern, Southern, Prairie View A&M, Jackson State, the defending SWAC Champions Alabama State and Florida A&M. The UAB Blazers of Conference USA will also be competing.
The Lady Panthers will open Friday's baker's match versus Jackson State beginning at 9:45 a.m. They will continue rolling when they face Louisiana Tech, followed by matches with Southern, Alabama A&M and will conclude the day against North Carolina A&T.
Saturday matchups will feature a traditional format, with PVAMU open the day with Florida A&M at 8:55 a.m. From there match 7, 8, and 10 will come against University of Maryland Eastern Shore, UAB and Texas Southern.
Prairie View A&M will close out the weekend with three best of four out of seven baker matches beginning at 8:30 a.m. The awards ceremony is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
