PRAIRIE VIEW - The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team took control of their season opener Monday afternoon in the William J. Nicks Building with a smothering defense and blazing offensive pace set by the Panthers in a 98-47 victory.

Diana Rosenthal paced the PVAMU with 22 points, while newcomer Destiny Jenkins added 18 points going 6-for-10 around the arc. Graduate student Desiree Lewis added 10 points in the win.

How it Happened:
- The Panthers went on top in the opening six minutes behind a deadly combination that forced several early Lady Rams turnovers, that led to some red-hot shooting by the Panthers early in the game.
- With 5:00 minutes left in the first half of the game the Panthers pushed their lead to 38-16. Â Coming out the break the Golden Lions attempted to picking at PVAMU's lead, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers advance their lead to 27 points (58-31).
- PV owned a 33-23 advantage in rebounds led by Lewis with five.
The Panthers will return to play on Thursday November 10, when they host Wiley College at 5:30 p.m. in the William J. Nicks Building
