HAMMOND, La. – The Prairie View A&M University women's basketball team dropped a non-conference road game on Tuesday evening, falling to Southeastern La, 84-57 in the SLU University Center.
The game opened with both teams exchanging baskets, with the Panthers up by as many as five points. The Lady Lions used a 12-0 run to take a 20-9 lead at the 2:27 mark. The combination of
Tamiracle Taylor and
Diana Rosenthal put the Panthers back in range finding themselves down by just four (23-19) to end quarter one.
SLU created a separation pushing their lead up by as many as nine with 5:52 on the clock in the second quarter. PVAMU made another push getting within three before the break (34-31).
Coming out of the half, the Lady Lions used final run (13-0), as they continued to control the tempo in the third quarter. Southeastern La. Outscored the Panthers, 28-17 taking a 14-point (62-48) lead into the final stretch.
SLU commanded the final period taking their largest lead of the game with a 22-point deficit (77-55) with 4:03 left in the contest. The Panthers could not get going offensively over the last four minutes of the contest closing the game out with a 84-57 loss to the Lady Lions.
Rosenthal finished with a team-high 10 points and four assists.
Desiree Lewis and
Kennedy Paul both registered nine points apiece. Lewis added a team high six rebounds.

The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, December 17 for their final non-conference games prior to the Christmas break, against Arizona State (3 p.m.) in Tempe and will face Michigan State on December 20 for a 6 p.m. matchup in East Lansing.
