TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Prairie View A&M men's basketball dropped a heartbreaking 61-60 loss to Florida A&M Monday night at the AL Lawson Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Panthers came out taking control of the first half to go into the locker room with a 28-17 advantage. It was the second half that made the difference as free throws were the plague that put PVAMU in a sticky situation. With 7:09 left on the clock the Rattlers were in striking distance as they cut the deficit to two-points (44-42).
A 3-pointer by FAMU's Dimingus Stevens gave them the lead that they would not relinquish until the game was knotted at 56-56 with 2:19 left on the clock. A final 58-58 tie came with 35 seconds left in the game on a
Jawaun Daniels and-one. Hitting the free throw put PVAMU in a 59-58 situation.
Defense was key from this point forward in order to walk away with the win, but another 3-point shot by Stevens gave FAMU the 61-60 win over PVAMU.
Markedric Bell led the Panthers with 13 points, he also had seven rebounds.
Jeremiah Gambrell was the only other player in double-figures with 10 points, adding one rebound, two assists and one steal to his numbers.

D'Rell Roberts each had nine points apiece. Daniels let the team with nine rebounds.
PVAMU will return to the hardwood when they play host to Southern University on Saturday, February 12 for a 5:30 start at the William J. Nicks Building.
