TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team takes a 64-51 road win over Florida A&M to sweep the Florida swing on Monday night at the AL Lawson Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
PVAMU opened up with a quick layup by
Kirdis Clark and then a three-point shot by
Diana Rosenthal to take a 5-0 lead over the Rattlers. FAMU got on the board, prior to the Panthers going on a 12-0 run leaving 1:05 left in the first quarter before Florida A&M scored again to close out the 1
st 22-5. The Panthers continued their scoring surge taking a 36-13 lead into the intermission.
Florida A&M changed their tune as they chipped away at the Panthers lead, getting as close as 12 points, but PAMU took a 19 point lead into the fourth quarter.
With a little under four-minutes left in the game the Rattlers were down by 22 points, but some big threes and a couple of free throws brought FAMU within 11 cutting the deficit to half. A final free throw and a layup by
Kennedy Paul closed out the game as the Panthers held on to a 64-51 victory.
Rosenthal had a game high of 23 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Paul added 16 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
UP NEXT:
PVAMU will return home for their next two contest hosting Southern University on Saturday, Feb.12 and Monday, Feb. 14 versus Grambling State. The game times are set for 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively.
