BOX SCORE PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M softball team dropped their first game of the three game series, falling 3-2 to Texas Southern Friday afternoon.
How it happened:
- Texas got on the board in the top of the third inning. The Lady Panthers answered in the bottom of the fourth, when Audrey Garcia led off with a single, Maddison Parker and Destinee Smith were both walked loading the bases. Jerrica Rojas singled to left center to score Garcia to even the score at 1-1.
- Texas Southern's 2 RBI homerun advanced the score to 3-1. In the bottom of the sixth the Lady Panthers Jaylyn Davis hit a homer to make the score 3-2. This would be as close as PVAMU would get to close out the game.
- Freshman Cailin Massey, who had the loss on the mound, registered seven strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Garcia led the offense going 2-for-4, with one run scored.
Prairie View A&M will return to action on Saturday for doubleheader action as they continue SWAC play against Texas Southern. The first pitch is set for noon and the second game will be played 30 minutes afterwards at the PVAMU Softball Complex.
