HOUSTON-The Prairie View A&M University baseball team wrapped up a late rally with a two-run eighth inning to clinch an 11-9 win at Husky Field Tuesday afternoon.
Â
How it Happened:
- The Panthers scored six runs in the first inning, but HBU would respond cutting the deficit in half with three runs of its own in the bottom of the first. The Panthers would add two more runs in the top of the fourth, and the Huskies answered again to make it a two run game 8-6.
- PVAMU advanced their lead by one to push the score to 9-6 in the top of the fifth, and again HBU would follow adding one run also. The score stood until the bottom of the seventh when the Huskies threatened to take the lead with the Panthers holding a 9-8 advantage.Â
- Prairie View A&M added two more final runs in the top of the eighth pushing their lead to 11, the Huskies would again answer with a run in the bottom half of the eighth not being able to add to their score as the Panthers clinched with the two run eighth that sealed the 11-9 victory.
- Matthew Krall earned the win on the mound pitching 1.0 innings allowing just one walk, and Justin Maxcey received the save after pitching 1.0 innings and striking out one. Tre Turner, Dominic Cox and Zach Trevino each had two hits driving in at least one run for the Panthers.Â
Up next due to inclement weather, the Panthers will return to Tankersley field for a three-game weekend series against Southern. The series will begin with a single game on April 15, at 3 p.m. followed by games on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. All can be watched and followed on pvpanthers.com.
