BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a three hour rain delay and an extended inning, for the first game of the day, featured a pitcher's duel that ultimately favored the Florida A&M as they took a 5-4 decision in front of 782 fans at Regions Field.
How it Happened:

• Florida A&M scored a run in the bottom of the first to open the scoring for the Rattlers.  Prairie View A&M did not get on the board until the top of the fourth evening the game at 1-1.  Benjamin Ybarra opened the frame with a double to right field.  Brayden Johnson hit a single to second putting Ybarra in scoring position.  A ground out by Sebastian Coria brought Ybarra in for the score.
• The Panthers finally broke through offensively as they were able to take a 4-1 lead in the top of the eighth.  After a defensive change by the Rattlers, Tre Turner doubled to left center to begin the scoring for the Panthers.  With one out Johnson singled to the right line for his first RBI single of the day.  A pitching change, Coria singled down the right line placing a runner on second.  Paul Castro singled for an RBI through the left line to take a 3-1.  Damarie Cox doubled down the left line to score Coria for a 4-1 inning.
• Florida A&M struck back scoring two runs in the bottom half of their inning.  The Rattlers extended the game knotting the contest at 4-4.  A walk-off single by Florida A&M ended the game and FAMU taking the win.

 
Prairie View A&M will square off against the loser of the Southern vs. Jackson State game 3 at 12 p.m. on Thursday.
