BIRMINGHAM - In the double elimination contest against Florida A&M, Prairie View A&M Panthers closed their books with a 17-1 loss.
"We played a good game in the earlier part of the day, but was not able to bring that same energy into this afternoon's game, said head baseball coach
Auntwan Riggins. "This is not the way I wanted this team to end it, out hopes was to come in and win a championship, but that's not what happened. We (myself and coaches) will have to go back and revisit some things, from pitching, hitting and defensively."
How it Happened:
- The Panthers could not get their offense going as Florida A&M scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third and one in the fifth to take an 8-0 lead over PVAMU.
- Prairie View A&M got on the board in the top of the sixth with one run. With two outs Sebastian Coria hit a single through left field to get on the base pad. Paul Castro hit an RBI triple to center field scoring Coria for the lone run.
