PRAIRIE VIEW – After being on the road and off a couple of days, coming home to open conference play is something that the Prairie View A&M University volleyball team looked forward to, as they opened Southwestern Athletic Conference play, topping Texas Southern foe 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 28-26).

Kylee Owens smoked the competition on Thursday night tallying her seventh double-double of the season.
Owens put away 13 kills on 40 attempts with seven errors, she also had 12 digs and six service aces. Sophomore middle blocker
Kiersten Atkinson racked up a .429 hitting percentage, while toasting 11 kills, four blocks (1 solo, three block assist) and two digs. Freshman right side hitter
Taylor Roberts notched an impressive night offensively, collecting 10 kills to help.

MaKinzie Taplin orchestrated sold performances by the Lady Panthers attack, totaling 19 assists a piece. Hope also had 12 digs in the match.
As a team the Lady Panthers were a brick wall all night, as they posted 13 total blocks. Senior libero
Skyla Childs aided the defense, tallying an impressive 30 digs on the night.
The Lady Panthers will play on the road for the remainder of the month of October. They will travel to Grambling, La., to take on conference leader GSU (5-7 overall, 2-0 SWAC) for a 4 p.m. bout on Sunday, October 2. Before facing UAPB (3-12 overall, 1-1 SWAC) on Monday, Oct. 3 for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
