Prairie View A&M rallies from halftime deficit, falls to Alcorn State 77-68 in overtime

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team went into halftime trailing Alcorn State 38-30, rallied from the deficit to tie the game at 63-63 and force overtime, but fell to the Braves 77-68 at home Monday.

The Panthers (7-12, 3-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Yahuza Rasas, who had 21 points and eight rebounds. Will Douglas tacked on 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals and Hegel Augustin helped out with 10 points.

Nikkei Rutty pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the Prairie View A&M offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 19 second chance points.

How It Happened

After falling behind 14-10, Prairie View A&M went on a 5-0 run with 11:09 left in the first half to take a 15-14 lead. The Panthers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 38-30.

Prairie View A&M narrowed its deficit to 43-38 before going on an 8-0 run to seize a 46-43 lead with 8:34 to go in the contest. The Braves then fought back to even things up at 63-63 and send the game to overtime. Augustin's shot sent the contest to an extra period with just two seconds left. Prairie View A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 33 points in the lane.

Alcorn State then took control in overtime and won 77-68.
