COLLEGE STATION, TX --The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team received a 16-point showing from the bench, but fell 88-36 to the Texas A&M Aggies on the road Wednesday.
Jada Roberson led the Panthers (3-6) with four points and three steals. Gerlyn Smith added eight points off the bench and Amauri Williams chipped in as well with seven points.
How It Happened
Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 21-9 at the end of the first quarter.
The Panthers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 45-14 halftime deficit.
Prairie View A&M's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Panthers faced a 64-20 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Prairie View A&M knocked down one three-pointer in the quarter to score three of its six total points.
Texas A&M kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 65-20 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Adreanna Waddle's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 65-26 with 7:34 to go in the contest. Texas A&M responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 88-36. Prairie View A&M took advantage of two Texas A&M turnovers in the quarter, scoring four points off of those takeaways.
