Prairie View A&M falls 1 run short in loss to Fordham

CLEARWATER, Fla. --Sophomore Hailey. Elizarraras surrendered only two, but the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers could not muster the offense to take advantage, losing to the Fordham Rams by the score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Elizarraras (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Prairie View A&M (0-3). The right-hander went 6.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on 10 hits, allowing one walk and striking out six.

Junior B. Figueroa led the way offensively for the Lady Panthers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Panthers were trailing 1-0 in the seventh inning when they first put runs on the board. Freshman J. Hickman came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board. Fordham then scored one time in the bottom half of the seventh to break the tie and grab the 2-1 win.

» Prairie View A&M's highest-scoring inning was the seventh when it pushed one run across.
» Prairie View A&M pitchers faced 30 Fordham hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and seven fly balls while striking out six.
» Figueroa led the Lady Panthers at the plate, going 1-for-2.
