PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- In an impressive come back the Prairie View A&M softball team falls short in the seventh inning to the Sam Houston State Bearkats 7-5.
Sophomore Hailey Elizarraras (0-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Prairie View A&M (0-8).
Offensively, the Lady Panthers were led by junior Biviana Figueroa, who went 2-for-4 on the day with an RBI. Junior Rayna Lewis put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Junior Jaylyn Davis also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Panthers were trailing 4-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M scored twice, with one run coming across on Lewis' single.
The Lady Panther's deficit grew to 7-2 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Prairie View A&M put together a three-run frame, culminating in a run-scoring single from junior Karina Cisneros, which brought the score to 7-5 in favor of the Bearkats. The Lady Panthers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
