Prairie View A&M comes up short in doubleheader loss to Incarnate Word

GAME 1 | Incarnate Word 6, Prairie View A&M 4

SAN ANTONIO, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers put together a valiant performance on Saturday but ultimately came up short, losing to the Incarnate Word Cardinals by the score of 6-4.

Sophomore Hailey Elizarraras (0-0) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (0-9) and took the loss. Junior Jerrica Rojas was a bright spot for the Lady Panthers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits.

Offensively, the Lady Panthers were paced by junior Jaylyn Davis, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a home run, two walks, and three RBI. Sophomore Hannah Garza furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Junior Rayna Lewis also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Panthers were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Davis. The Lady Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Incarnate Word scored three times over the remaining four innings to grab the 6-4 win.

SAN ANTONIO, Tx --Freshman Mia Nunez went 2-for-4, but the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers still came up short on Saturday and suffered defeat at the hands of the Incarnate Word Cardinals by a final of 4-1.

Sophomore Cailin Massey got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (0-10) and took the loss.

Nunez led the way offensively for the Lady Panthers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame. Junior Biviana Figueroa put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Panthers were trailing 1-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Figueroa, scoring junior Makala Barnes from third base. Incarnate Word then scored three times over the remaining four innings to break the tie and grab the 4-1 win.
