GAME 1 | Prairie View A&M 4, Southern 1
PRAIRIE VIEW, TXÂ --The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-1 win against the Southern Lady Jaguars on Saturday.
Sophomore Hailey Elizarraras (1-4) got the win for Prairie View A&M (2-13, 2-0). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on seven hits, allowing no walks, and striking out two.
Freshman Mia Nunez led the way offensively for the Lady Panthers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a double, a walk, and an RBI. Junior Biviana Figueroa put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Freshman Kamaya Brown also chipped in, going 1-for-1 for Prairie View A&M with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom of the first inning with the game still scoreless. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Figueroa, scoring Nunez from second base.
The Lady Panthers then held the Lady Jaguars scoreless before expanding their lead in the fourth inning. Brown's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Prairie View A&M scored twice, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Lady Panthers.
Prairie View A&M kept Southern without a run before expanding their lead to 4-0 the following inning. The Lady Panthers recorded a run on Nunez's one-out RBI double. Southern put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Prairie View A&M still held on for the 4-1 win.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --It was a rough day for Southern pitchers, as the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers plated eight runs en route to an 8-3 win over the Lady Jaguars on Saturday.
Junior Jerrica Rojas (1-1) got the win for Prairie View A&M (3-13, 3-0). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits, allowing three walks and striking out two.
Offensively, the Lady Panthers were paced by freshman Miranda Fimbres, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a double and three RBI. Sophomore Hannah Garza put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Junior Brandi Juarez also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

The Lady Jaguars then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead before the Lady Panthers got back on the board in the fourth. Prairie View A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Juarez, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Lady Jaguars.
Prairie View A&M held the Lady Jaguars off the board before rallying to snatch an 8-3 lead in the fifth. The Lady Panther's bats heated up in the inning, scoring six runs, including a three-run double off the bat of Fimbres. The score remained 8-3 for the rest of the game, as Prairie View A&M coasted to the win.
