PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Prairie View A&M University Jayda Gordon was named Freshman of the Year, while senior Stephanie Vasquez was selected to the all-conference first team for their performances during both Southwestern Athletic Conference round-ups.

The Lady Panthers will look to finish strong this weekend as they compete at the 2023 SWAC Bowling Championship set for March 24-26 at the ITRC in Arlington, Texas.

The all-conference teams were also announced as PVAMU had two bowlers receive honors.  Vasquez earned her accolades after posting a 196.52, with a fifth-place finish during the regular season competition and a spot on the All-Conference First Team, while Gordon finished 193.04 for an eighth-place to earn All-SWAC Second Team.

The opening round will take place on Friday, starting at noon with teams competing for seeding, while Saturday and Sunday will feature a Baker format (best 4 of 7) with the top two seeds receiving a bye to open competition on Sunday.

The winner of the SWAC Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Bowling Championship.  The selection date is scheduled for Wednesday, March 29 at 3 pm CT.
The Bowling Championship will be held April 14-15, 2023 at the South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
