HOUSTON, TX --The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers survived the Texas Southern Lady Tigers and earned a victory by the score of 4-3 on Wednesday.
Freshman B. Reyna (1-3) got the win for Prairie View A&M (7-15, 6-0). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits, allowing one walk, and striking out three.
At the plate, the Lady Panthers were paced by freshman M. Nunez, who went 1-for-4 on the day with a home run and two RBI. Freshman C. Massey put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-1 with two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Panthers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fifth inning. Prairie View A&M plated two runs when Nunez left the yard with freshman M. Barnes aboard.
The Lady Tigers then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Lady Panthers expanded their advantage in the seventh. Prairie View A&M picked up two runs when a single from Massey brought home freshman K. Brown and freshman A. Garcia, which brought the score to 4-1 in favor of the Lady Panthers. Texas Southern put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Prairie View A&M still held on for the 4-3 win.
