GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Prairie View A&M men's track and field team competed in the Pepsi Florida Relays over the weekend with a host of personal and season's best performances.
Freshman
Shawn Saint Romain led the field events with his 9
th-place finish in the men's Long jump with a mark of 7.06m(23'2"). He is currently ranked 5
th on the SWAC performance list and sophomore
Michael Bogues who is currently 3
rd on the SWAC performance list was 10
th in the men's Javelin with his best throw of 49.58m(163'6").
The action on the track began with an outstanding performance by junior
Christion Derrick in the men's 200m dash where he posted a personal best time of 21.27 and it was highlighted by the 4x400m relay team of Derrick,
Damon Cobbs,
Arrion Knight, and Timothy Demeritt running a blistering preliminary round time of 3:07.91 which currently ranks them #8 in the NCAA.
Day two of the Pepsi Florida Relays a host more of personal and season's best performances placed several panthers in the top 48 on the NCAA West Regional performance list.
Junior Stanley Hamilton led the field events with his 5
th place personal best finish in the triple jump with his leap of 15.06m(49'5) which places him #1 on the SWAC performance list and #27 on the NCAA West Region performance list.
Cobbs finished 10
th in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 46.74 putting him #2 on the SWAC performance list and #18 in the NCAA West Region.

The Panthers will resume competition next weekend at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational at the University of Houston.
