BEAUMONT, Texas --Freshman Ahmar Donatto went 2-for-4 with a double for the Prairie View A&M Panthers in a 13-1 loss to the Lamar Cardinals on Tuesday.
Freshman Elijah Breeden (3-4) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (17-27) and took the loss. The right-hander went four innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on five hits.
In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by Donatto, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Freshman Michael Burroughs furnished a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double. Junior Tyran Norris also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Donatto came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Lamar added eight runs to their tally on the way to a 13-1 final.
