PRAIRIE VIEW, TX - Prairie View A&M's volleyball team, is set to face a significant challenge against the Florida A&M Rattlers Friday inside the William J. Nicks Building "Baby Dome". This upcoming session will take place on the home court at Prairie View A&M, where the Lady Panthers will attempt to improve their SWAC record and overall season performance.
Currently holding a competitive SWAC record of 6-1 and an overall season record of 9-13, the Lady Panthers look to leverage their home court advantage. Head coach
Cheri Lindsay is preparing her squad for what promises to be a spirited contest. The Lady Panthers' roster features standout players such as
Kylee Owens and
D'Mya Hill, both outside hitters who have shown remarkable prowess this season. They're joined by
Leila Smalls in the role of rightside hitter/libero,
Leah Lawson handling the setter duties, and
Janyah Henderson, who has been a dominant force as a middle blocker.
The history between the two teams adds an extra layer of intensity to the upcoming game. Last season, the Lady Panthers faced a tough loss against the Rattlers in a nail-biting five-set match during the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament. Key performances from years past, such as the double-double from
Kylee Owens with 15 kills and 17 digs, and a combined defensive effort led by Jacqueline Nino with 19 digs, highlight the team's potential to turn previous setbacks into a win this season.
As they approach the match with strategic focus and determination, Prairie View A&M aims to not only defend their home court but also to disrupt Florida A&M's perfect SWAC record of 7-0. With the guidance of their experienced coach,
Cheri Lindsay, and the support of the home crowd, the Lady Panthers are more motivated than ever to showcase their skills against a formidable opponent.
