Panthers Face Tough Road Loss Against UCLA Bruins

LOS ANGELES, CA --  Prairie View A&M faced a challenging road game getting a 36-point performance from the bench, on Tuesday night inside Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, where they were defeated by the UCLA Bruins with a final score of 111-75. Despite a spirited performance, the Panthers could not bridge the gap after trailing 53-36 at halftime.

The Panthers had three players score in double figures, led by Jordan Tillmon led the Panthers' scoring efforts with 24 points, followed by Nick Anderson, who put up 19 points along with eight rebounds and 2 steals. Marcel Bryant also contributed significantly with 12 points, six rebounds, two steals,  one block, and three assists, showcasing a solid all-around performance and playing a pivotal role in turnovers and assists. Other contributors included Tanahj Pettway, Orlando Horton, Jr., Zaakir Sawyer, Ryan Bolton Jr., and John-Paul Ricks, each adding to the team's efforts in various capacities.

Prairie View A&M utilized great ball movement in Tuesday's game, piling up 16 assists on 24 made field goals. Individually, Braelon Bush dished out the most for the Panthers with five assists and Ricks also added four assists of his own.

Despite the tough loss, significant efforts were evident from the Panthers' squad as they tried to contend with UCLA's strong gameplay, which dominated both halves. Looking forward, Prairie View A&M's next challenge is against Rice on December 22, at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas. The Panthers, holding a current season record of 1-10, are eyeing a return to form as they prepare to face their next opponent.

How It Happened

Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 53-36 heading into halftime.

UCLA kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 95-61 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 7-0 run to shrink the deficit to 95-68 with 4:57 to go in the contest. UCLA responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 111-75. Prairie View A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 16 of its 39 total points.
