GAME 1 | Buffalo 8, Prairie View A&M 7
SAN ANTONIO, TX --The Prairie View A&M Panthers took a 7-6 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 8-7 to the Buffalo Bulls Saturday.
Senior Jerrica Rojas (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Prairie View A&M (0-3).
At the plate, the Panthers were paced by freshman Isabela Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double and four RBI. Junior Aerin Talley put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI. Sophomore Mia Nunez also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding two doubles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the first inning. Rodriguez drove in two runs for Prairie View A&M with a single, that scored Nunez and senior Jaylyn Davis.
The Bulls expanded their lead to 6-2 before the Panthers offense got back to work, taking the lead in the third. The Prairie View A&M offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Talley and a two-run double from Rodriguez, which brought the score to 7-6 in favor of the Panthers. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Buffalo scored two times over the remaining four innings to grab the 8-7 win.
