PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --It was a difficult day for North Dakota pitchers, as the Prairie View A&M Panthers scored 11 runs en route to an 11-3 win over the Fighting Hawks on Wednesday.
Senior B. Reyna (1-2) got the win for Prairie View A&M (4-7). The right-hander went five innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits.
Junior A. Talley led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBI. Senior A. Garcia compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two RBI. Senior J. Davis also contributed, going 1-for-2 for Prairie View A&M with a double and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the first inning. Prairie View A&M plated two runs off of North Dakota pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of sophomore M. Nunez.
The Panthers kept the deficit at 3-2 before taking the lead in the third. The Prairie View A&M offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Talley and a two-run double from Davis, which brought the Panthers lead to 7-3.
Prairie View A&M kept North Dakota scoreless before building their lead to 11-3 in the fifth inning. The Panthers bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Garcia. The score remained 11-3 for the rest of the game, as Prairie View A&M coasted to the win.
