PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers got three hits out of senior Biviana Figueroa in a 7-5 loss to the Incarnate Word Cardinals Tuesday.
Senior Jerrica Rojas (4-3) took the loss in the circle for Prairie View A&M (21-17).
In addition to her three hits, Figueroa had two doubles and an RBI to lead the Panthers. Senior Audrey Garcia put together a standout effort as well, going 1-for-1 with an RBI. Sophomore Mia Nunez also helped out for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board.
The Panthers then held the Cardinals scoreless before expanding their lead in the third inning. Senior Audry Fleming came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the Panthers lead to 4-2.
Prairie View A&M kept Incarnate Word scoreless before expanding their lead to 5-2 the following inning. The Panthers scored a run on Figueroa's one-out RBI double. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Incarnate Word scored five times over the remaining three innings to grab the 7-5 win.
