PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers rallied to score two in the ninth inning and walked it off on a single off the bat of freshman Jordan Williams to pick up the 3-2 win over the UAPB Golden Lions Friday.
Junior Leonardo Bravo (5-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (19-22, 10-7). The right-hander went one shutout inning while giving up one hit, allowing one walk and striking out two. Junior Matthew Krall also made an impact on the mound for the Panthers, starting the ballgame and throwing eight innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on one hit, with one walk and seven strikeouts.
In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by freshman Michael Smith, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk, and an RBI. Sophomore Michael Burroughs compiled a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a double. Junior Tyran Norris also chipped in for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Smith put Prairie View A&M on the board with a two-out solo home run off freshman C. McClendon.
UAPB then broke the tie and took a 2-1 lead before Prairie View A&M scored two runs in the bottom half of the ninth to grab the win, walking it off on an RBI single off the bat of Williams.
