Prairie View A&M leads from second inning on in 4-1 victory over Alcorn State

GAME 2 | Prairie View A&M 4, Alcorn State 1

Lorman, Miss. --The Prairie View A&M Panthers took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-1 victory over the Alcorn State Lady Braves on Saturday.

Senior Jerrica Rojas (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Prairie View A&M (24-17, ). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of sophomore M. Nunez.

The Panthers then held the Lady Braves scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Freshman I. Rodriguez came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the Panthers lead to 4-0. Alcorn State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Prairie View A&M still held on for the 4-1 win.
