GRAMBLING, La. --The Prairie View A&M Panthers took a 3-2 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 5-4 to the Grambling Tigers Friday.
Junior Cailin Massey (5-6) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (16-16, 11-1) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Prairie View A&M plated two runs off of Grambling pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of junior Aerin Talley.
After the Tigers rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Panthers came back to retake the lead in the fifth inning. Sophomore Nya Brown came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Panthers.
Prairie View A&M's lead had disappeared once the seventh inning came around and turned into a 4-3 Grambling advantage, when the Panthers tied up the game at four. Grambling then scored one time in the bottom half of the seventh to break the tie and grab the 5-4 win.
