GRAMBLING, La. --Senior Breanna Reyna was dealing on Saturday, hurling a three-hit shutout to lead the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the Grambling Tigers 5-0.
Reyna (7-6) went the distance for Prairie View A&M (17-16, 12-1), giving up three hits, walking one and striking out six.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers took the lead for good in the sixth, scoring for the first time in the inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from junior Cailin Massey, scoring freshman Isabela Rodriguez from third base.
The Panthers then tacked on runs in the seventh inning when they scored four times. The big hit in that inning was a two-run single off the bat of senior Jaylyn Davis.

GRAMBLING, La. --Prairie View A&M got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Panthers put eight runs on the board and take down the Grambling Tigers 8-4 Saturday.
Senior Jerrica Rojas (4-2) got the win for Prairie View A&M (18-16, 13-1). The right-hander went 5.1 innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out six. Junior Halley Elizarraras also pitched well, going 1.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
Offensively, the Panthers were led by senior Jaylyn Davis, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run and an RBI. Sophomore Nya Brown furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Junior Cailin Massey also chipped in for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Massey put Prairie View A&M on the board with a one-out solo home run off senior Janecia King.
The Panthers kept the Tigers off the board before taking the lead in the fifth. The Prairie View A&M offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of sophomore Mia Nunez, which brought the Panthers lead to 6-2.
Prairie View A&M held Grambling scoreless before expanding their lead to 7-2 the following inning. The Panthers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Brown.
The Tigers fought back, closing the gap to 7-4 until Prairie View A&M added some insurance in the seventh. Freshman Jade Uresti crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Panthers, bringing the score to 8-4 in favor of Prairie View A&M. The score remained 8-4 for the rest of the game, as the Panthers coasted to the win.
