7/31/2024 5:19:00 PM

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - After 20 years of service and six SWAC championships, Prairie View A&M Women's head bowling coach, Glenn White has retired.  July 31st is his final day on staff.

White elevated the Prairie View A&M bowling program into a preeminent Southwestern Athletic Conference championship contender and one of the nation's best teams.

It has been White's love and passion for the sport of bowling that made not only Prairie View A&M legendary within SWAC, but also a legend for collegiate bowling across the country.

As one of the top coaches in bowling, White was one of the game's leading ambassadors. In December 2015, he was named to the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Women's Bowling Committee, where he served as a member for six years. An appointment that was designated for only four years. He served as Chairman of the NCAA Women's Bowling Committee in 2021 and is the first head coach of an HBCU bowling program to earn this distinction. White was instrumental in enabling PVAMU to serve as a regional host for the NCAA Women's Bowling Tournament for the first time in school history in 2022, this honor will continue through 2026.

It has been a bitter-sweet moment for the family and friends of Coach White since making his announcement.

Along, with the SWAC championships and academic honors, White has built the annual Prairie View Invitational at the ITRC Bowling Tournament into one of the nation's best. Just completing its twelve years, the event continues to attract nationally ranked teams at the world-renowned Bowling ITRC Complex in Arlington, Texas.

White and his wife Lollie Simon-White have two children and four grand kids. The White family will truly be missed by the Prairie View A&M Athletics.

Good luck and congratulations Coach Glenn White.
