The women's soccer team regular season begins Thursday at the PVAMU Soccer Complex against North American University. Kick off for the match will take place at 7:00pm. This will be their first match up against the Lady Stallions.
Fourteen players have returned from the 2023 team including graduate student
Mya Sheridan, junior
Kamara Bradley, junior
Dahjah Lewis, and sophomore
Nalonie Allgeier.
Bradley was the top player on the team in the 2023 season in assists (2), shots (21), and shots on goal (15). Sheridan led in goals (3) and points, (7) and Allegier and Lewis was among the top players goals (3 Lewis, 2 Allegier) and points (6 Lewis, 4 Allegier). The Lady Panthers welcome thirteen new players onto the team, which includes a mixture of freshmen and transfer students.
In the 2023 season, the women's team finished with a record of 3-12-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). They're coming into this season with a preseason ranking of 6 out of 10 in the SWAC, and Sheridan being named to the All-SWAC Second Team.
Coach Abe Garcia returns this season prepared to lead the team along with his assistant coach Tino Albarran, who will be entering his first season coaching at Prairie View A&M.
The Lady Panthers will return home for their second game of the season on August 22, to match up against Incarnate Word at 1:00pm.
This game will be free admission to all. Fans, students, and staff are encouraged to come and support Lady Panthers soccer.
