Pettway, Bryant and Tillmon lead Prairie View A&M past Mississippi Valley State on the road

ITTA BENA, MSTanahj Pettway, Marcel Bryant, and Jordan Tillmon combined to score 58 of Prairie View A&M's 74 points as the Panthers defeated the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 74-65 on the road Saturday.

Pettway led the Panthers (3-13, 2-1) with 22 points and seven rebounds. Bryant added 18 points, seven rebounds, and two steals and Tillmon helped out with 18 points.  Pettway's three offensive rebounds, led Prairie View A&M to do a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 10 boards that resulted in 13 second-chance points.
Prairie View A&M forced 15 Delta Devil turnovers. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 15 points on the offensive end of the floor. Orlando Horton, Jr. led the way individually with three steals.

How It Happened
After falling behind 6-0, Prairie View A&M went on a 17-0 run with 18:25 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Pettway, to take a 17-6 lead. The Panthers added two points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 39-26 advantage.

Prairie View A&M kept its lead intact before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Bryant's three, to grow the lead to 59-42 with 8:00 to go in the contest. The Delta Devils narrowed the margin somewhat before the game ended, but the Panthers still cruised for the 74-65 win. Prairie View A&M capitalized on 10 Mississippi Valley State turnovers in the period, collecting nine points off those turnovers.

The Panthers will return to the hardwood when they face Arkansas Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Monday, January 13 for a 5:30 pm tip off inside the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
