Prairie View A&M Panthers Host the Grambling State Tigers for their SWAC Opener

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX — The Prairie View A&M Panthers are set to face the Grambling State Tigers in a much-anticipated matchup on January 4, 2025, at the home court. Despite a challenging season record of 1-12, the Panthers remain hopeful as they square off against the Tigers, who hold a record of 3-10.

Historically, Prairie View A&M has maintained a lead in the series against Grambling State, with an 18-9 advantage since 2011. Their last encounter on February 19, 2024, ended in a loss for the Panthers with a narrow 83-74 scoreline against the Tigers, adding a layer of intensity and anticipation to the upcoming game.

The Panthers are led by notable performances from Nick Anderson, a junior guard averaging 18.9 points per game, and Tanahj Pettway, a grad student guard with an average of 14.9 points per game. Sophomore forward Marcel Bryant has also been a key player, not only scoring 10.5 points per game but also leading the team in rebounds, averaging 4.8 rebounds per game. Additional support comes from grad student guard Jordan Tillmon, who contributes 9.2 points per game.

On the opposing side, the Grambling Tigers feature several prominent players including junior guard Antwan Burnett who averages 12.5 points per game, followed closely by junior guard Mikale Stevenson with 11.9 points, and senior guard Kintavious Dozier who adds an additional 10.3 points per game.
