Five Panthers score in double digits in Prairie View A&M's 91-73 loss to Missouri

COLUMBIA, MO --Five Panthers scored in double figures, but Prairie View A&M fell to the Missouri Tigers 91-73 on the road Monday.

The Panthers (2-3) had five players score in double figures, led by Tai'Reon Joseph, who had 17 points. Marcel Bryant tacked on 16 points off of the bench and Cory Wells helped out with 16 points and three steals.

The Prairie View A&M offense was very productive from downtown, making nine threes on 23 attempts. Bryant was the most prolific shooter for the Panthers, draining three treys in the contest.

The Prairie View A&M defense was a problem in Monday's game, forcing 14 Missouri turnovers while committing nine. Those takeaways turned into 16 points on the offensive end of the floor. Dontae Horne's four steals led the way individually for the Panthers.

How It Happened

Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 49-27 heading into halftime.

Missouri kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 85-52 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 10-0 run, finished off by Horne's layup, to shrink the deficit to 85-62 with 2:53 to go in the contest. The Panthers kept their comeback going, but Missouri managed to hold on for the 91-73 win. Prairie View A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 18 of its 46 total points.
