PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) announced its 2025 Volleyball Postseason Awards, and Prairie View A&M made a strong statement with key individual honors and multiple All-SWAC selections following a dominant conference campaign.

Head coach Dottie Hampton was named SWAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Lady Panthers through another successful season defined by discipline, consistency, and balanced play on both sides of the net.

Leading the individual honors, Kylee Owens was selected to the All-SWAC First Team as an Outside/Right Side Hitter. Owens was one of the SWAC's most dynamic attackers throughout the season and finished the year in strong form, highlighted by her late-season performances at Alabama State and Alabama A&M. Over that two-match stretch, she recorded 32 kills, 29 digs, four blocks and 37 total points, averaging 3.2 kills per set while hitting .214 and playing a major role in the Panthers' five-set road victories.

Four Lady Panthers were named to the All-SWAC Second Team, each having a major impact during the Panthers' stretch run:

  • D'Mya Hill (Outside/Right Side Hitter) – Hill provided consistent offensive firepower across conference play, highlighted by her strong all-around performance at Grambling where she contributed double-digit points and steady back-row defense.
  • Iyonna Sherwood (Middle Hitter/Blocker) – Sherwood anchored the middle and was a key presence at the net, using her length and timing to disrupt opposing attacks while providing efficient offensive production.
  • MaKinzie Taplin (Setter) – Taplin directed Prairie View A&M's offense with precision and control. In wins over Alabama State and Alabama A&M, she totaled 57 assists and 20 digs over 10 sets, averaging 5.7 assists per set while helping the Lady Panthers maintain offensive balance in two five-set road victories.
  • Leila Smalls (Libero/Defensive Specialist) – Smalls served as the defensive backbone for the Panthers, consistently stabilizing the back row. In recent standout matches, she totaled 35 digs across three contests, including a 15-dig performance against Texas Southern and double-digit dig efforts against Grambling and UAPB, demonstrating elite consistency in serve receive and floor defense.

The Lady Panthers' presence across the SWAC postseason awards reflects the team's toughness, depth, and execution throughout the 2025 season as Prairie View A&M continues to set the standard in conference volleyball.
