SAN ANTONIO, TX --Crystal Schultz scored 20 points and Cj Wilson had 6 more, but the Lady Panthers fell to the UTSA Roadrunners 86-40 on the road Saturday.
Schultz led the Lady Panthers (2-7) with 20 points. Wilson also added six points and nine rebounds and Preston Young helped out with four points and three blocks.
Led by Taiya Kikunga's two offensive rebounds, Prairie View A&M did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in five second chance points.
How It Happened
Prairie View A&M started out the scoring by going on a 6-0 run, culminating in a three from Schultz, to take an early lead with 9:19 left in the first quarter. The Lady Panthers then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 19-16.
The Lady Panthers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 40-25 halftime deficit.
Prairie View A&M's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Panthers faced a 60-31 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Prairie View A&M's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled two of the team's six third-quarter points.
Prairie View A&M could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 86-40. Prairie View A&M took advantage of four UTSA turnovers in the quarter, scoring four points off of those takeaways.
