PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --Tai'Reon Joseph totaled 31 points to help lead the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team past the 124-62 at home Saturday.
Joseph added two steals to his 31 point game to lead the Panthers (4-5). Cory Wells helped out with a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds and Dontae Horne chipped in with 17 points and four assists.
Prairie View A&M shared the ball well in Saturday's game, racking up 25 assists on 49 made field goals. Individually, Lance Williams led the way for the Panthers with five assists.
The Prairie View A&M defense held shooters to only 30.7 percent from the field, including 27.7 percent from three-point range.
How It Happened
After jumping out to an 8-5 advantage, Prairie View A&M went on an 11-0 run with 17:10 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Jannoy Thomas, to increase its lead to 19-5. The Panthers then added 16 points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 63-33 advantage. Prairie View A&M did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 40 of its 63 points close to the basket.
Following intermission, Prairie View A&M kept widening that lead, expanding it to 108-59 before going on a 10-0 run, finished off by Hassane Diallo's layup, to grow the lead to 118-59 with 2:01 to go in the contest. The Panthers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 124-62 win. Prairie View A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 44 of its 61 points in the lane.
