Prairie View A&M Panthers Show Strong Performance at Jarvis Scott Invite

Prairie View A&M's Track and Field team showcased commendable performances in their final regular indoor season meet, the Jarvis Scott Invite, held at the Sports Performance Center at Texas Tech on February 14 and 15. The event marked a significant moment as the team aimed to gear up for the upcoming SWAC indoor championships scheduled for next week.

The Panthers' athletes recorded several seasonal bests, with notable achievements among both women's and men's teams. De'Niya Gravely led the charge for the women, running a season-best time of 7.64 in the 60m event. Janiya Wilkins wasn't far behind, clocking in at 7.77. In hurdles, Sanai Kintchen advanced to the semi-finals with a time of 8.52 in the 60mh and followed up with an 8.55. Savoria Anderson secured 7th place in the triple jump, impressing the field with a leap of 12.35 meters. The women's 4x4 relay team, composed of Kintchen, Zara Richardson, Treasure Bethea, and Jasir Miller, completed the race in 3:50.08.

On the men's side, Eric Brooks sprinted to a personal season-best of 6.94 in the 60m. The 400m race saw exceptional performances from Bryce McFadden with a season-best of 48.06, A'isayah Brown (49.49), Kellen Morgan (49.53), and Kendon Hill (49.87), each clocking sub-50 times. In field events, Devin Miller (2.08m; 6th place) and Kaiden Berry (16.07m; 8th place) also made their mark by claiming noteworthy positions in high jump and shot put, respectively.

As the Panthers prepare for the SWAC indoor championships in Birmingham, Alabama, beginning on February 22, the momentum from this meet could prove crucial. With solid performances behind them and high stakes ahead, the team looks forward to competing at their peak in the upcoming championships.
