Prairie View A&M men's track and field enters the SWAC Outdoor Championships, where the three-day meet opens May 10 at A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The schedule gives the meet a clear shape, with prelims set to dominate May 10 and May 11 before a finals-heavy close on May 12.
The headliner is De'Trevyon Goudeau, who arrives ranked first in the 400 meters and sixth in the 200 within the conference. His form also carries NCAA relevance, as he is listed No. 31 in the NCAA West in the 400. Bryce McFadden adds another important sprint piece for Prairie View A&M as the conference's No. 7 entrant in the 400, giving the Panthers two athletes to watch in one of the meet's deepest events. That sprint strength extends to the relays, where Prairie View A&M is ranked sixth in the 4x100 and fourth in the 4x400, two races that could prove critical once team points tighten late in the meet.
The team also has multiple ways to score on the track beyond the short sprints. Sebastian Cruz is ranked fourth in the 800 and fifth in the 1,500, making him one of the Panthers' most versatile contenders. Thierry Garcon gives the team another distance option, entering seventh in the 1,500 and sixth in the 5,000. In the hurdles, Ronzell Woods is ranked fifth in the 400 hurdles, Anthony Mangram is sixth and William Osby is eighth, a notable cluster that gives Prairie View A&M three potential scorers in the same event. Kejun Wilson is seeded eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, adding yet another event in which the Panthers could build points.
The field events may be just as important to Prairie View A&M's push up the team standings. Devin Miller is ranked fifth in the high jump after finishing second indoors, and Darryl Muckelroy enters as the No. 2 seed in the pole vault. Muckelroy's resume stands out entering Baton Rouge, as he was also second at the indoor conference meet and second at last year's outdoor championships.
The meet can be streamed live on SWAC TV, and meet results are also available online.
