PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --  The Prairie View A&M baseball team is gearing up for a promising home opener game against Texas College Steers on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The Panthers, led by head coach Auntwan Riggins, are looking to improve their early-season record of 1-2.

The game is crucial as it represents not just a chance to even out their record but also to continue their dominance over the Steers, against whom they lead the all-time series 12-5.

The last face-off between the Panthers and the Steers was a close contest, with Prairie View A&M edging out Texas College 5-4 on February 22, 2024. As the Panthers prepare to host at home again, they bank on the significant home-ground advantage and a history of past victories to steer them toward another win. The team features key players who are expected to make significant contributions; red-shirt sophomore third baseman Landon Williams from Abilene, Texas, red-shirt senior catcher Mason Heiskell from Fort Worth, Texas, and sophomore shortstop Ahmar Donatto from Humble, Texas.

Texas College, directed by head coach Jarrail Jackson, comes into the match with a struggling season start, holding a record of 1-9. The Prairie View A&M Panthers, buoyed by their tactical prowess and significant player experiences, are intent on capitalizing on their strong matchup history to secure a victory in the forthcoming game. With strategic gameplay and robust teamwork, the Panthers aim to pave their road to success in the current season.
