PRAIRIE VIEW, TX -- In an exciting SWAC regular season tennis event on Saturday, March 15, 2025, the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers clinched a crucial victory over the Southern University Jaguars at their home courts in Prairie View, Texas. The Lady Panthers outplayed the Jaguars in singles, securing a 4-2 win, despite Southern taking the doubles segment 2-1.
Prairie View showcased strong performances in the singles competition. Ainara Rodriguez defeated Paris Washington with solid scores of 6-3, 6-4. Andrea Blanca pulled off a stunning win in her challenging match against Jessica Hess, triumphing in a nerve-wracking tie-breaker to close the final set 7-6. Daniela Garcia also contributed to the tally by overcoming Tshegofatso Tsiang with scores of 7-5, 6-4, and
Amaya Bobadilla overcame Kai Wince, rallying after dropping the second set to win 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.
In doubles, Rodriguez and Bobadilla teamed up to deliver a decisive 6-2 win against Shahd Habib and Baluck Deang, marking the only doubles win for Prairie View. Andrea Blanca's resilience during her singles match earned her additional recognition, highlighting her ability to maintain composure and clinch a tie-breaker under pressure.
