Thomas Notches 4 RBIs in Prairie View A&M's 11-1 Victory over UAPB

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas --Senior Janaiya Thomas racked up four RBIs to help power the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the UAPB Lady Lions 11-1 on Friday.

Freshman Brielle Moreno (7-5) got the win for Prairie View A&M (18-17, 5-11). The right-hander went five innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing two walks and striking out three.

Thomas went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and a walk in addition to her four RBIs for the Panthers. Junior Dyani McKinley compiled a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Freshman Kearstin Tinsley also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Prairie View A&M's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run walk off the bat of sophomore Aryana Cruz.

The Lady Lions failed to push any runs across before the Panthers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Prairie View A&M pushed across a run on Thomas' two-out RBI double, which brought the Panthers lead to 5-0.

UAPB narrowed Prairie View A&M's lead to 5-1 before the Panthers stretched the advantage to 11-1 in the third inning. The Panthers bats heated up in the inning, scoring six runs, including a two-run triple off the bat of Thomas. The score remained 11-1 for the rest of the game, as Prairie View A&M coasted to the win.
