CORPUS CHRISTI, TX --The Prairie View A&M volleyball team fell in five sets (9-25, 16-25, 25-21, 27-25, 5-15) to the Texas A&M-CC Islanders Friday on the road at Dugan Wellness Center.
The non-conference loss moved Prairie View A&M to 2-6 on the season.
The Lady Panthers offense was paced by Kylee Owens, who finished with 12 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .25. D'Mya Hill added 11 and Iyonna Sherwood chipped in with 10 as part of balanced Prairie View A&M attack. got 16 digs from Leila Smalls to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Panthers fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-9. Prairie View A&M trailed by as many as 16 points as Texas A&M-CC grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was notted up just once before the Islanders took control.
SET 2 | Prairie View A&M lost the second set 25-16, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Prairie View A&M trailed by as many as nine points as Texas A&M-CC grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that was knotted up five times before the Islanders took over the lead.
SET 3 | Prairie View A&M fought back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Lady Panthers took the set 25-21 helped by a strong showing on the attacking side. Prairie View A&M registered a .333 attack percentage with 14 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands six times, the Lady Panthers took control for good at 18-17 and rode that advantage to victory. The Prairie View A&M offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 4 | Prairie View A&M then kept the comeback train rolling, winning the fourth set 27-25 to bring the match level at two sets apiece. A strong performance on the attacking end led the Lady Panthers to victory in the set. Prairie View A&M put together a .417 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands seven times, the Lady Panthers took control for good at 25-24 and rode that advantage to victory.
SET 5 | Prairie View A&M lost the first two sets, but came back to tie it at 2-2 before falling 15-5 in the fifth set. The Lady Panthers trailed by as many as 10 points before dropping the fifth set.
The team will return to action on Saturday when they continue to play in the TAMUCC Tournament. The first serve is at 11:00 am versus Sam Houston State inside the Dugan Wellness Center.
