PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --Dontae Horne scored 30 points, but the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team fell to the Alabama State Hornets 95-80 at home Saturday.
Horne added eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals to his 30 point game to lead the Panthers (8-12, 3-4). Joey Madimba helped out with 12 points and two blocks and Jannoy Thomas chipped in with five points and two steals coming off the bench.
Prairie View A&M grabbed 32 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Alabama State's 28, led by Horne's eight boards.
Prairie View A&M forced 14 Alabama State turnovers. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 10 points on the offensive end of the floor. Horne's three steals led the way for Prairie View A&M.
How It Happened
After falling behind 22-13, Prairie View A&M went on a 7-0 run with 12:21 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 22-20. Alabama State answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Panthers down 52-45 entering halftime.
Prairie View A&M could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 95-80. Prairie View A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 12 of its 35 total points.
