PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --Dontae Horne totaled 46 season high points, but the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team fell to the Southern Jaguars 87-82 at home Saturday.
Horne added three assists to his 46 point game to lead the Panthers (9-16, 4-8). Tai'Reon Joseph helped out with 14 points and Cory Wells chipped in with nine points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 2-0, Prairie View A&M went on a 7-0 run with 19:19 left in the first half to take a 7-2 lead. The Panthers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 40-38 advantage.
Southern proceeded to take a 69-67 lead before Prairie View A&M went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Horne's layup, to seize a 74-69 lead with 5:49 to go in the contest. Southern re-asserted control, outscoring the Panthers 18-8 the rest of the way to hand Prairie View A&M the 87-82 loss. Prairie View A&M took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 42 points in the lane.
