SAN ANTONIO, TX --The Prairie View A&M Panthers fell 3-2 in a 10-inning matchup to the Incarnate Word Cardinals Saturday.
Junior Oliver Brown (1-1) came out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (3-2) and took the loss. Kenneth Haynes was a bright spot for the Panthers, starting the ballgame and throwing five innings, giving up one run on five hits, with three walks and seven strikeouts.
In the batter's box, the Panthers were led by Tyvon Moore, who went 2-for-5 on the day with a triple. Senior Michael Burroughs put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with two doubles. Jordan Williams also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Moore came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board.
The Cardinals then tied the ballgame at one before the Panthers came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Burroughs came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M, which brought the score to 2-1 in favor of the Panthers. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Incarnate Word scored two times over the remaining six innings to grab the 3-2 win.
