JACKSON, Miss. --Beau Beaty was dealing on Friday, hurling a three-hit shutout to lead the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the Jackson State Tigers 9-0.
Beaty (2-4) went the distance for Prairie View A&M (5-15, 1-3), giving up three hits, walking two and striking out five.
At the plate, the Panthers were paced by Michael Burroughs, who went 2-for-5 on the day with a double and a walk. Ryland Duson put together a standout effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a triple and a walk. Corie Lockette also chipped in for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a walk and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers took the lead for good in the fifth, scoring for the first time in the inning. Prairie View A&M managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Panthers then tacked on runs in four more innings, with their biggest output coming in the sixth when they scored three times.
