BATON ROUGE, La. --The Prairie View A&M Panthers took a 7-3 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 9-8 to the Southern Jaguars Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board.
The Panthers then held the Jaguars scoreless before expanding their lead in the sixth inning. The Prairie View A&M offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Ryland Duson, which brought the Panthers lead to 7-2.
Southern fought back to even the ballgame at seven before Prairie View A&M reclaimed an 8-7 advantage in the eighth inning. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Southern scored two times over the remaining one inning to grab the 9-8 win.
