PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — On a day dedicated to honoring its senior class, Prairie View A&M delivered a dominant performance in front of the home crowd as the Lady Panthers shut out Alcorn State 7-0 on Saturday.
Prairie View A&M recognized its seven senior student-athletes Breayna Jackson, Madalyne Martinez, Kayla Zaid, Dyani McKinley, Caidence Martin, Mia Nunez, and Lainey Niederhofer — for their dedication and contributions to the program. The group was celebrated for its leadership, resilience, and role in continuing the Lady Panthers' tradition of excellence.
Once the game began, the Panthers backed up the emotion of Senior Day with a strong showing in the circle and at the plate.
Madalyne Martinez, Gabrielle Larson, and Caden Young combined to toss a shutout as Prairie View A&M blanked the Lady Braves. Martinez (1-2) earned the win, going 3.1 innings while allowing three hits, one walk, and striking out one. Young added two shutout innings out of the bullpen, giving up just one hit while striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers wasted no time getting on the board, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Caidence Martin delivered an RBI single to score Isabela Rodriguez from second.
Prairie View A&M continued to apply pressure throughout the game, scoring in four additional innings. The biggest offensive surge came in the fifth inning when the Panthers plated two runs, highlighted by a run-scoring double from Hannah Comeaux.
