Prairie View A&M puts up 6 runs in loss to Grambling

GRAMBLING, La. --An outstanding offensive output was not enough for Prairie View A&M on Sunday. The Panthers tallied six runs, but could not hold the Grambling Tigers at bay, and were defeated 7-6.

Kamar Dove (0-8) came out of the bullpen for Prairie View A&M (7-31, 3-15) and took the loss. Jaxton Fipps was a bright spot for the Panthers, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the second inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Dylan Diaz, scoring Michael Burroughs from third base.

The Tigers then scored three runs to retake their advantage heading into the sixth inning, when the Panthers responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Diaz, which brought the score level at 4-4.

That 4-4 tie turned into a 5-4 Prairie View A&M lead in the seventh.

Prairie View A&M surrendered the lead they built in the seventh, but got back on the scoreboard in the ninth trailing 7-5. The Panthers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Burroughs, tightening the Grambling lead to 7-6. The ballgame ended with that ninth inning rally falling short.
